Kisumu Governor, Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, received a warm reception as he jetted back into the country after a three-month medical break in the United States of America (USA).
The plane carrying the Governor touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 2:30 pm to a jubilant delegation of top county leadership of Kisumu led by his Deputy Dr. Matthew Owili.
Professor Nyong’o is expected to make a triumph entry into his home County on Friday the 16th, at10:00 am where there will be a procession from Kisumu International Airport to Saint Stephen Church for inter faith prayers, then later he will address the county residents at the Freedom Square formerly Kenyatta Sports ground.
Plans are underway to accord him a befitting welcome by Kisumu County residents.
The county government of Kisumu has undertaken the full management of the Sabako Vocational Training Centre in a ceremony held at Southwest ward in Kisumu West Sub-County.
The facility which was formally under the management of the community was handed over to the County department of education under the directorship of Vocational Education and Training, who promised to revive its immediate operation to the benefit of the community.
While presiding on the handing over ceremony, the CEC Education, ICT and Human Resource Development, Dr. John Obiero Ogone urged the community to embrace the Vocational Training Centre (VTCs) saying that the centre will bring forth economic growth and social change in the community.
Dr. Ogone emphasized the need for partnership between the community and the County Government to make the operation of the newly owned VTC a success.
The Chief Officer, Madam Rosemary Atieno Otieno encouraged residents to take up the challenge and help persuade more trainee enrollment.
The event was graced by MCA South West Ward, Hon Erick Agola, the Presiding Committee members, county officials and members of the community.
