At least 400 youths in Kisumu have taken Digital literacy and ICT skills training through a partnership program between the County Government and Zone01 Kisumu as part of an exciting program launched to open up job opportunities for the people of Kisumu.
The program is designed to narrow the unemployment challenges in the county by engaging youths in the National Technical training institutes including, Kisumu National Polytechnic, Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT), Seme Technical Training Institute, and Nyakach Technical and Vocational College.

The objective of the outreach program is to sensitize students on available opportunities in digital literacy and ICT skills. The training offers courses on Cyber Security, Blockchain Development, Data Engineering, Game Development, Artificial Intelligence, and Web App Development.
Being technologically savvy is essential for navigating today’s increasingly tech-driven global economy. While there are many advantages to digital literacy, there are also numerous and significant challenges in accessing digital tools for teaching, especially due to unreliable internet access and lower income levels in the county.

It is with this background that plans have been set to engage local and private TVETs within the sub-counties. The program intends to provide tuition-free training in tech to residents of Kisumu County and beyond, leading them to employment in the field of tech. Currently, applications are open through the following link below year.
