
Kisumu County has received protective equipment’s, pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceuticals worth 12.5 Million in the face of the current Cholera outbreak.
The items donated by Equity Bank Foundation have also intensified the fight against Covid-19 pandemic and other communicable diseases.
Over the last two years, Kisumu received donations worth Kshs.30M from the foundation to support Covid-19 prevention and containment interventions.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Governor at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, the county minister for Public Service, County Administration and Participatory Development, Madam Judith Oluoch acknowledged the continuous support from the Foundation.
“This particular donation will go a long way in protecting the frontline workers from the deadly effects of the pandemic as well as help in bridging the gap in fighting the current emerging communicable diseases” She said.

Kisumu is currently grappling with a cholera outbreak and the county minister for Health and Sanination yesterday through a press release reported 5 confirmed cases with the epicenter being Nyalenda A and Nyalenda B. Residents have been urged to take precautionary measures to avoid contracting the disease such as washing hands with soap which saved millions from the global covid 19 pandemic.
She took cognizance that the support extended by the Equity foundation during the Covid-19 pandemic made it possible for the county to respond to the pandemic in a way that minimized its effects to the populace.
“Its coming at a time when counties are faced with a cash crunch but with very high expectations to deliver on its key functions, the donation will bridge the gap in delivery of health services.” she added.
Equity Bank’s Manager Ms Madam Alice Ouma reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to support the health sector in Kisumu County under its health pillar.

She said the partnership shall prosper to better the society and the people at large. The consignment included: surgical masks, protective goggles, face shields, gowns, disposable scrubs, aprons among others.
Joining the Minister were Health and Sanitation Chief Officer Dr. Ojwang’ Lusi, JOOTRH CEO Dr. George Rae, JOOTRH board members among other Senior County Officials and Equity Bank Foundation Officials.
