Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to enhance accountability and service delivery in the county.
Speaking during a breakfast meeting with members of the CSO Network from Kisumu County, the Governor emphasized the crucial role CSOs play in keeping government officials in check and ensuring public resources are utilized effectively.
“Civil Society Organizations are not disruptors; they are key partners in development. They provide us with valuable feedback on service delivery, helping us improve governance. We appreciate their efforts,” said Prof. Nyong’o.
He commended the CSO Network, led by Cliff Ochieng’ and Betty Okero, for their detailed research findings on key governance issues, including:
✅ Challenges in County Revenue Collection
✅ Health Service Delivery Gaps
✅ Effectiveness of Project Management Committees

Following deliberations, the County Government and CSOs resolved to strengthen their partnership in tackling corruption, particularly in revenue collection. Prof. Nyong’o encouraged CSOs to expose public servants and contractors involved in malpractice, emphasizing transparency and accountability.
To ensure continuous engagement, the Governor directed:
✔ Quarterly meetings between the County Executive and CSOs to address emerging service delivery issues.
✔ A review of Project Management Committees to enhance their effectiveness and ensure the selection of qualified members.
Members of the Kisumu County Executive Committee (Cabinet) also attended the meeting.
