In line with Governor Prof.  Nyong’o’s manifesto of promoting Sports and Artistic Talent Development and efforts to restore Kisumu’s gone glory as a football powerhouse in the region,the County’s department of sports has spearheaded programs that will see vibrant talented youths recruited to be part of the County’s football team that’s expected to play in the National Super League (NSL).

The directorate of Sports kicked off the process with trials in the county’s entire seven sub-counties which will enable them have an all-inclusive team with players from all over the county. The suitable players from this sub-county heat were selected by a team of coaches who were stationed at the various grounds where games were on-going.

The best players identified in the sub-counties by the coaches then proceeded to for selection on the 12th and 13th Of January, 2018  at Moi Stadium in Kisumu. The selection will lead to the formation of  the County team which will eventually represent Kisumu i in the NSL.

Final selection process will be conducted by a team of prominent local coaches under the stewardship of Mr. Andreas Spire,the Technical director of Harambee stars will see to it that players chosen are selected based on merit and ensure that only the best are in the County’s pioneer team.

This is just amongst some of the programs lined up by the department of sports that is set to nurture, upgrade and develop the talents of the numerous talented youth in the County.
