Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o held a consultative meeting with the board members of the Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) where they discussed matters of financing micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kisumu.

Both the county of government of Kisumu and KIE agreed to form technical working groups that will partner in carry out a feasibility study and identify business opportunities particularly within   the cottage industry.

Governor Nyong’o stressed on the need to invest in business innovation and come up with incubation centers in all the 35 wards within the county. He also proposed working with the Kisumu Polytechnic to tap on the diverse skills the institution produces.

On his part, the KIE board chairman Mr. Bob Karina promised to partner with the county by carrying out resource mapping and to also offer entrepreneurship training and financial aid to local small enterprises owners.

Also present in the meeting were the Deputy Governor Dr. Matthew Owili and the County Executive Committee Member for Business Energy and Industrialization Hon. Alice Moraa.
