Kisumu County under the National Agriculture Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has organized a three- day training for the Trainers (ToTs) commencing today 21st to 23rd August, 2023at the Pride Hotel in Bondo.
The training that brings on board technical officers across different disciplines, from both the County and National Governments within the Sub Counties, has been initiated to equip the technical teams with skills on Participatory Integrated Community Development (PICD) process, as they will be the lead team spearheading the implementation process of information gathering from the community.
While officially presiding over the official opening of the training sessions, the Chief Officer for Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock and Fisheries, Mr. Erick Omondi Ogallo noted that PICD process is a critical step in any project implementation.
He reiterated that it gives farmers the opportunity to think through the challenges they face and come up with their own possible solutions.
He further stated that such a move helps in building trust and also allow farmers to take ownership which finally enhances project sustainability. Adding that the process will help community focus on projects with great impact.
On training the ToTs he said it is key in having resourceful front-liners who will pass the information to another level to guide farmers in making wise decision.
He called on the Trainers to help farmers focus more on solutions and not challenges.

The County Project Coordinator, Mr. Sylvester Okech who highlighted on the objective of the training sessions said the aim is to sensitize the Sub County technical teams (SCTT) on NVCDP project: it’s components, the up coming farmers’ registration, PICD process and to develop a work plan for the PICD process.
