Uniformed Discipline Services from Kisumu and Siaya Counties gathered on Saturday for the annual thanksgiving and prayer service held at St Theresa Catholic Cathedral, Kibuye.
The service brought together service commanders and officers from the Kenya Police, DCI, Administration Police, Kenya Prison, Kenya Wildlife Service, National Youth Service and Kenya Coast Guard, along with their families members.

The service was presided over by Rt. Rev George Muthaka, Bishop of Garissa and National Chaplain of the Uniformed Discipline Services. It was held under the theme “God Strengthens and Keeps Me Secure” from Psalms 18:33.
Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o who was represented by CECM of Public Service, County Administration and Participatory Development, Office of the Governor, Salmon Orimba, acknowledged the critical role security officers play in safeguarding the nation, especially during politically tense periods.

In his speech, the governor called for national unity and restraint amid rising political tensions, noting the recent loss of lives and property during protests.
“Let us pray for our country. Let us pray for the safety and protection of our uniformed disciplined forces. May our Lord give them the knowledge and humility as they protect Kenyans during these hard times.” He said.
Governor Nyong’o called on the officers to carry out their duties with fairness and humility, and reminded political leaders to tone down divisive rhetoric in favour of reconciliation and peace
“As politicians turn ballistic in a country already rendered fragile by political competition, the huge mandate of maintaining law and order rests squarely on their shoulders. We pray that they undertake these roles with fairness and dedication.”
Special prayers were also offered for Kenyan officers deployed on peacekeeping missions abroad, especially those currently serving in Haiti.

Mr Oriop Bosek Deputy County Commissioner for Kisumu Central attended as Chief guest, representing Nyanza Regional Commissioner Ms Flora Mworoa.
During the event, the Kenya Wildlife Service officially handed over the leadership of Uniformed Discipline Services coordination forum for Kisumu and Siaya to Kenya Forest Service, which will lead for the coming year
Governor Nyong’o concluded his message by assuring the disciplined services of Kisumu County Government’s continued support.
