Kisumu County Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o has said that his county has taken center stage in shaping Africa’s urban smart future.
Speaking during the official opening of Africa Smart Cities and Township Alliance Summit in Kisumu, Governor Nyong’o said with an average of six out of ten people in Africa today living in urban areas making the cities and townships conducive, resilient and economically viable must occupy minds.
“The future of Africa’s development is local, the future of our economic renaissance is local and the future of our independence and growth is local”he said.

He called for strong partnerships, especially between Africa Smart Cities and Townships Alliance Summit (ASCA ) and United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLGA), to amplify voice and unlock resources for sustainable growth.
The ASCA Summit 2025 is set to establish innovation-driven partnerships, engage investors in scalable African Infrastructure solutions.
