Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works at Kibuye Market under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project 2 (KISIP 2).

The Governor highlighted that traders and market-goers are pleased with the improvements, which include the reconstruction of key roads such as Thepthep- Kibuye -SDA Highway Primary – Mama Ngina. The project also involves the installation of drainage systems to manage stormwater and the construction of walkways for pedestrians, enhancing safety and accessibility.
This initiative is a crucial part of the County Government of Kisumu’s modernization program, designed to stimulate economic growth and social development through the provision of modern, inclusive, and accessible infrastructure.
Following the successful execution of the Kibuye Market phase, Nyong’o announced that the Muhoroni Informal Settlement is next. Works under KISIP 2 Lot 2 will focus on improving roads, enhancing drainage, and ensuring safer walkways in the area.
Nyong’o emphasized that his administration, in collaboration with the National Government and various development partners, is committed to positively impacting the lives of its residents. The KISIP project, launched in 2022, is a national government initiative aimed at improving living conditions and providing tenure security in informal settlements across fifteen urban centers in Kenya.
