
Day one of a series of community engagement workshops kicked off today at the Nyalenda Kenya Assemblies of God. ( KAG) hall in Kisumu.
The initiative targeted local community leaders and youth group representatives. It focused on Nature Based Solutions ( Nbs) towards the restoration of river Auji.
A total of 50 Youth Leaders and community representatives attended the training
Some of the key areas covered included: Nature based solutions in urban planning and circular economy, Nbs for sustainable tourism development and tree nursery establishment.
The training is supported by the Generation Restoration Project, funded by UNEP in collaboration with ICLEI
The training was carried out by facilitators from the County Government of Kisumu in collaboration with the National Environment Management Authority, Kenya Wildlife Service and Kenya Forestry Research Institute.
