The county directorate of climate change organized a sensitization workshop for Ward Climate Change Committee members to raise awareness and strengthen the capacity of stakeholders on the implementation of the County Climate Projects Action for Kisumu.
The workshop was to update WCCPC members on the status of FLLoCA projects, enhance public engagement, and validate the 2024-2025 CCRI projects.
Being a County project, Key outcomes including progress updates on FLLoCA implementation, strategies for vibrant public communication, and successful validation of upcoming climate resilience initiatives were discussed.
The event commenced with a welcome remark from the County Director for Climate Change Mr. Evans Gichana, who stressed that when it comes to decision-making and implementation towards building resilient communities in the face of climate change, the meaningful participation of all groups becomes essential.
Goodwill messages were received from Chief Officer of Water Environment Climate Change and Natural Resources Mr. Erick Ogallo who also declared the workshop opened. In his speech, he highlighted key actions taken by the department to promote climate change actions.
During the workshop, participants were equipped with knowledge of the concept of county climate resilience investments, as well as the role of the committee in monitoring and evaluating the projects.
The sensitization workshop is part of the activities under the FLLoCA project; Strengthening Capacity for Implementation of the Kisumu County Climate Change Action at ward Levels with funding from the County Revenue Fund as well as the FLLoCA Fund.
