Kisumu rolls out the opening up of new access roads in Nyakach Subcounty targeting, katito town access roads as well as North West and South East Nyakach access roads.
The idea is to open up new access roads to connect the remote areas to the highways and to ease movement of people and goods.
According to the CEC Member Mr. Salmon Orimba, the launch of the access roads is expected soon by Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o
During an inspection tour of the ongoing works, Waziri Orimba affirmed that the department of roads and public works is making progress on all county roads getting works in the pipeline as he asked residents to support the governor for the success of his transformational agenda.
In North Nyakach the 1.5 km KaWater-Atoyieng’o box culvert- St Alloyce Gem secondary school access road site works are ongoing. The box culvert is significant along the access road in disposing rain water, providing passage for animals and it is also suitable for non perennial streams.
The opening of the new Junction Ndare- Siany Primary- Keyo primary school- Kakere access road in South East Nyakach is also on course taking into consideration the width and angles of the junction.
According to Eng. Julius Ngere the construction focuses on delivering climate proof roads through grading, dozing and drainage works using local materials.
The County government has continued its efforts in implementing the machine based road construction and maintenance program across the county.
The residents expressed joy as the long awaited roads have now come to life following promise upon promise to open up the community access roads.
“We are members of the community and we are grateful for the new road that will meet the requirements of this community.” says John onduto a resident of Ndare-Siany in South East Nyakach.
The scope of the ongoing works for the new access roads include, bush clearing, heavy grading, culvert installation, graveling and compaction.
