Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o has flagged off consignment of Early Child Development Education foodstuff valued at kshs 25 million to feed nearly 50,000 learners in public centres .
“This will be followed by the distribution of learning materials worth kshs 19 million to all our EC centres and as a county our obligation is to ensure quality education is accessible to our children” he said.

The County presently has 653 ECD centres of which 593 are anchored in Primary Schools while 57 are stand-alone public centres.
The public centres have a total enrollment of 43,549 children of which 21,515 are girls while 25,698 are boys.
The County Government of Kisumu started the feeding programme in 2015 to provide meals to increase enrollment,access,retention and completion as well as to improve their learning performances in schools.
