An artistic moment filled the Governor’s Office at City Hall today as the Misango Arts Ensemble brought a slice of theatre to the heart of the County Government.
Their powerful performance of an excerpt from Angola Venezalanos – Voyage left the room captivated and set the tone for a historic journey ahead.


The ensemble has been selected to represent Kisumu and Kenya at the 6th World of Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC Africa Renaissance Festival)
The festival scheduled for September 21st to 27th, 2025 at the iconic Black Star Square and other venues in Accra, Ghana. The team is set to depart Kisumu on 17th September 2025.

Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o commended the group’s artistry and affirmed the County Government’s unwavering support.
Also present was CECM for Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs, Beatrice Odongo, who congratulated the ensemble on their achievements

“I celebrate your achievement and the inspiration you bring to our youth and artists. We will stand with you, offering the necessary support to help you represent Kisumu “. Ms Odongo said.
Directed by award-winning theatre visionary Akech Obat Masira and co-written with Fredrick Obondi Owiti, Angola Venezalanos Voyage is a testament to Kisumu’s thriving creative economy and cultural depth.

The Governor noted that Kisumu is no stranger to the festival, having hosted the 5th edition of FESTAC Africa in 2024 a landmark event that cemented the city’s status as a hub for African arts and culture.
