Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o met with a team of Independent Verification Agents (IVAs) from Nairobi who are in Kisumu to assess the county’s eligibility for the Kenya Devolution Support Programme II (KDSP II).
Their mission is to evaluate the progress of the ongoing KDSP II projects. The program is being implemented through a partnership between the World Bank and the National Government.
The assessment is a crucial step that will partly determine Kisumu’s eligibility to unlock a Ksh. 37.5 million support grant for institutional strengthening. This funding is intended to pave the way for a major performance assessment, which the county hopes will unlock about Ksh. 352 million in investment grants.
“I assured them of our readiness, noting that Kisumu has already identified and budgeted for key projects, and with a strong technical team and proper systems in place, I’m confident we’ve met the required conditions to advance service delivery for our people,” Nyong’o said.
