Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o has called on fishermen and Lake Victoria users to work closely with the Kenya Coast Guard Devices and install the “Usalama Baharini” mobile app which is their fastest lifeline whenever in distress within Lake Victoria.
He said these during the official tour and assessment of the perfomance of Kenya Coast Guard Services(KCGS) led by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
He added that the visit reaffirms collective commitment to enhance maritime security to optimize blue economy and intensify the fight against drug and substance abuse across our nation.
“The KCGS plays a pivotal role in safeguarding our hardworking fisher folk and ensuring compliance with maritime laws — a critical pillar in advancing our Blue Economy agenda”he further said
He added that there was a need to secure waters, empower communities, and propel Kisumu and Kenya towards safe and sustainable prosperity.
