The County government’s Department of Early Childhood Education today held creative activity festivities for ECD schools across the County.

The event brought together participants from various ECD centers in the 2025 Creative activities organized by the County Directorate of Early Childhood Education, together with its partners.

The 2025 creative activities themed Children’s safety and protection is everyone’s responsibility was graced by the County Minister for Education, Mr. John Awiti, who applauded teachers for exemplary work in coaching the learners to perform their best in creative activities.
The activities brought immense joy and pride to the entire ECD community. “Watching our young stars light up the stage, each portraying a character with boundless enthusiasm and creativity, was a beautiful reminder of the innocence, imagination, and joy that defines early childhood,” said Mr. Awiti.

Committed to providing holistic education, the County Government has provided opportunities for Creative competitions and fun activities to complement academics in its ECD centers by encouraging learners to think beyond textbooks, sparking curiosity, and a love for learning.
The learners participated in the various categories of performances ranging from singing games-western style, singing games-African style, solo verses ( English and Kiswahili), Choral verses both English and Kiswahili, creative dances, fashion show, orientals, instrumentals, and special categories.

According to the County Minister, Kisumu is currently the only County that is implementing creative activity festivities in the region. “We are dedicated to nurturing every child’s unique potential. We recognize that each learner is different and deserves the chance to explore their creativity, talents, and passions. Our curriculum is enriched with activities that complement academics and focus on holistic development.”

By participating in activities like the Fashion Show competition based on this year’s theme, the learners develop qualities like empathy, confidence, understanding of their rights, and self-expression. “Children’s safety and protection is everyone’s responsibility” allows learners to experience the set foundation for well-rounded individuals who are confident, curious, and capable of facing the world with open minds and understanding of their rights to security in all aspects.” said Director ECD Madam, Wilkister Odera
The festivities resulted in resounding success, leaving both learners and teachers with joyful memories and proud moments.
In her remarks, the County Director ECD noted that as the County looks forward to many more such events, where learners can continue to grow and shine, events such as today’s are a reminder as to why we love what we do, as we witness the blossoming of each child’s personality and potential.
Also present was Mr. Elly Ondiek, the head teacher of Nyamasaria Comprehensive School.
