
Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o has said that the Kenya Quality Model for Health Plus is timely as it strengthens the use of data ,digital tools,learning and accountability to a large extent in tandem with the County’s aspirations and fully aligned with the national health reforms and the Universal Health Coverage agenda.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by his Deputy Dr.Mathews Owili during the Kenya Quality Model for Health (KQMH PLUS Programme in Kisumu East Sub-County,Nyong’o added that the County understood early that quality improvement cannot stand on weak foundations and that’s why it invested first in infrastructure ,utilities,service readiness and digital systems especially within the Primary Health Care Network hubs.

“In Muhoroni County Hospital we fully restored infrastructure :refurbished Wards ,improved water and sanitation and enhanced alighting for 24 hr services and it’s now a dignified ed Refferal facility while at Lumumba County Hospital we reorganized services for efficiency and achieved full digitalization using Taifa Care abd Nurses now use digital photographs that flag complications on real tine there by saving lives” he added
Nyong’o further said that at Ojola Sub-County Hospital in Kisumu West Sub-County the County has revamped the OPD and established a wellness Centre that provides preventive screening across the course of life.
He also said that in Nyakach Sub-County at Katito Sub-County Hospital ,it has combined structural upgrades with solar power ,Wi-fi and CCTV and Katito now is a 24 hour digitally ready facility.

“At,Ahero ,we upgraded maternity ,the mortuary ,power supply and digital connectivity -linking the hospital to real time County supervision while in Gita and Katito we refurbished facilities ,expanded maternity and theatre capacity and deployed specialist teams closer to our people”he further said.
He further said that the County Executive Committee has already approved the recruitment of additional healthcare workers which will help to improve responsiveness ,reduce workload and strengthen care,especially in maternity ,outpatient and emergency services.

*And through SafeMamaTech ,we deployed digital tools to identify high-risk mother’s early ,support clinical decision-making and reducing delays in care”Nyong’o said
