Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o has stated that the desire to impact Kisumu County’s socio-infrastructural development remains his primary mission.

He spoke while hosting a delegation from Yiyang City, Hunan Province in China, led by Tian Yinjie, a Deputy Director from Yiyang’s Municipal Bureau of Commerce. Governor Nyong’o added that the visit laid a foundation for the long-term, practical exploration of growth opportunities for the people of Kisumu County.
“This delegation is a prime potential partner in urban development, waste and sewerage treatment, affordable housing, and security surveillance projects,” Nyong’o noted.

The delegation, which includes senior officials and business leaders from Yiyang’s Municipal Government and state-owned enterprises, aims to engage with the County’s leadership to discuss and explore partnerships in key sectors critical to sustainable urban development. Specifically, their focus is on:

Governor Nyong’o highlighted the existing benefits of similar international cooperation, stating: “We already have an impact of similar partnerships in the KEDA Ceramics International outfit in Miwani where hundreds of our people are employed and business/trade opportunities are explored.”
The visit is expected to lay the foundation for long-term partnerships, fostering knowledge exchange and investment opportunities aligned with Kisumu County’s vision for inclusive and sustainable growth.
Present during the function were Mama Kisumu Dorothy Nyong’o, County Secretary Hesbon Hongo, CECMs George Okong’o (Finance), Judith Oluoch (Water and Environment), Dr. Konyango Charles (Lands and Urban Development), City Manager Abala Wanga, and County Attorney Otieno Aluoka, among other County Government of Kisumu Officers.
