The County Government of Kisumu has distributed learning materials in all public Early Childhood Development Centres within the County.
Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o in a speech read on his behalf by Judith Oluoch who is also the CECM for Public Service, County Administration and Participatory Development and Acting County Secretary said the learning materials will cost kshs 19.8million and will benefit a total number of 43,640 learners who are enrolled in 687 public ECDE centres within the County.
“The learning materials include 19,894 textbooks, 151,254 exercise books, 50,000 pencils, and erasers,” he said.
He added that the materials were not procured for their aesthetical value to conform to some procurement or budgetary dictates but because of their critical contribution to the early learners’ growth.
He however cautioned those charged with the responsibility of managing the investments to be guided by integrity and honor.
