Kisumu County staff members participating in the 12th Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) games were officially flagged off today ahead of the competition in Siaya County.

Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Owilli presided over the ceremony, sending off the county’s contingent which is set to compete in 24 disciplines from November 23rd to 30th, 2025.
Dr. Owilli applauded the teams for their consistently strong performance in previous years and expressed confidence that this year would yield even more trophies. “Sports bring us together, make us make friends, brings team work, and make us fit,” he stated, emphasizing the unifying power of the games. He urged the players to be exemplary ambassadors for Kisumu County while in Siaya and to strive to bring home a significant haul of awards.


The flag-off event was also attended by the County Executive Committee Member (CECEM) for Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs, Hon. Beatrice Odongo, alongside her Chief Officer and the Director of Sports.

The team’s departure was bolstered by significant support from key partners. Kisumu County partner Enna Coach/Explorer Parcel Handlers (EPH), represented by Western Regional Manager Mr. Agai Alaka, generously donated 30 bales of water to support the players throughout the competition. Additionally, the County Pension Fund (CPF) Kisumu branch manager Mr. Fidel Omware contributed 100 t-shirts, continuing their annual tradition of support for the county team.
