Kisumu Governor, Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o held a meeting with the implementation team from the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement (AfD) mission, who are in the county to appraise ongoing works and check on social and health safeguard issues related to the project.
“The mission team is part of the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP 2) presently underway in the county, which is being implemented by the National and County governments,” Nyong’o said.

The delegation included Ms. Beatrice Eraso from the World Bank and the coordinating team from the National and County governments. CECMs Dr. Charles Konyango (Lands, Urban Development and Physical Planning) and George Okong’o (Finance) were also present during the meeting.
KISIP 2 has and continues to transform settlements and markets across Kisumu County. Lot 1, covering Bandani, Manyatta A & B, Migosi, and Nyawita, includes drainage, water, and sanitation works.
Lot 2 is in Kibuye market and the informal settlements in Muhoroni (Shauriyako, Shaurimoyo, Sangoro, and Bondeni), focusing on roads, water, and sanitation works.

Small works, social inclusion, and community development plans have been completed in Pundo Market (Bandani), Peace (Manyatta A), and Kasawino (Manyatta B) and have been handed over to the County Government of Kisumu.
