In the quest for a sustainable energy future, Kisumu County and its stakeholders are set to adopt smart metering with the aim of improving energy efficiencies and cost savings in the health facilities.
Investment in smart meters as energy efficient technology, stands to revolutionize energy use through cutting down consumption and boosting efficiency among large consumers.
The adoption of smart metering is largely driven by widespread inefficiencies in electricity consumption in existing energy infrastructure.

In an effort to accelerate the 100% Renewable Energy initiative that was launched by Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o on the 1st of August this year, the County
Energy sector together with the Department of Climate Change seek to promote the use of clean energy especially in the health facilities within Kisumu.
The workshop was graced by The County Director Climate Change and County FLLoCCA Coordinator Mr. Evans Gichana and The County officer in charge of Green energy Mr. Laban Okeyo.
Mr. Gichana was optimistic that Kisumu will achieve its targets aligned with global records for improving energy efficiency.

Through the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA)’s in partnership with German Cooperation – GIZ the County government organized a one day workshop that brought together Bio meds from the various health facilities in the City in a joint effort to achieve the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the health facilities.
Being a signatory to CoM SSA, Kisumu City is set to accelerate clean energy initiatives including the use of solar energy which would improve energy security, reduce energy costs and lower emissions
