The Regional Blood Transfusion Center (RBTC) – Kisumu in partnership with Medical Laboratory Services Unit organized a workshop set to develop strategies to boost blood and blood products stock levels during this year’s festive season across the county.

With the goal of ensuring access to blood and blood products, the strategies include blood donation drives in higher learning institutions, churches, companies, organizations and strengthening donor replacement at the blood transfusing sites.
The team has engaged the National Youth Service (NYS) at Gilgil in Nakuru County as one of the institutions that is currently set for the five days blood transfusion drive campaign starting on the 11th through to the 15th December 2023.

The team has also called for a culture of blood donation in the country stating that blood donation drive is a noble act that can save lives and ensures adequate stock levels at the blood bank.
Kisumu County Medical Laboratory Coordinator Dr. Ogollah Hellen together with the Technical Director of RBTC Kisumu, Madam Magdalene led other team members to conduct blood donation drives across the county.
