
The County Government of Kisumu in partnership with Hope Mobility Kenya have embarked on restoring dignity through distribution of mobility devices to persons with disability in Kisumu.

Speaking today during the launch and distribution of the mobility devices at Mama Grace Onyango hall, Governor Nyong’o extended his heartfelt gratitude to Hope Mobility Kenya for the provision of the devices and training the PWDs in Kisumu.
The Governor said the people value the support of receiving 500 wheel chairs among other assistive devices early this month. The support from Hope Mobility Kenya is at approximately Ksh. 22M.
Today Kisumu takes pride in launching and distributing 500 wheel chairs and assistive devices.
Through partnership, last year the County also received 221 wheel chairs courtesy of Walkabout Foundation.
It marks a celebration of a significant milestone in county’s commitment to inclusivity and support for individuals with disabilities as outlined in Governor Nyong’o ‘s manifesto.
He thanked all the partners together with the Deputy Governor,Dr. Mathew Owili, Caroline Agwanda, the departments of Health, Education , Public Service, Administration and Participatory Development for their generosity and dedication in making a profound impact on the community of Kisumu, while fostering an environment where everyone thrives.

On her part, Mary Gorety who led the team from Hope Mobility said they are happy to partner with the county and that their mission is to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ through the provision of mobility devices. Their aim she said is to see a smile and mobility restored to each individual since the PWDs are often forgotten in terms of mobility.
She further explained that they look forward to fit 500 wheel chairs and to continue partnering with the county in repairing and replacing those that the children will have outgrown.
The Governor was accompanied by Hon. Seth Kanga, the County Assembly Chief Whip, the CECMs for Agriculture Hon. Ken Onyango and for Public Service, Administration and Participatory Development Mr. Salmon Orimba , his advisor on matters PWDs Madam Caroline Agwanda and a host of top county officials from the departments of Health, Education among others
