The county government in partnership with Siasa Place (SP) has organized a youth advocacy workshop under the theme ‘youth advocacy plan for democratic political processes’ at Rockwell hotel in Kisumu.
The 2-day workshop centered on raising awareness on the status of governance through increasing youth engagement in political governance processes to strengthen Kenyan democracy through creating platforms for raising awareness on governance and reforms.
The workshop was graced by the CEC member for Education, ICT and Human Resource Development, Mr. John Awiti. The CEC said that the workshop was a great opportunity for the Youth to realize their place in the political and development agenda of the country. He encouraged the participants to explore and discuss strategies in making informed decisions that are essential to building and strengthening democracy.
The forum brought together 60 youth representatives including county-based youth leaders, representatives of the national youth council, youth wings of political parties and the ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs.
Siasa Place is a non-governmental organization seeking to create an enabling environment for youth to participate in political processes. The workshop is aimed at discussing the status of governance and developing advocacy strategies that will inform governance reforms.
The forum was also graced by the chief officer for Women, Youth, PWD and Social Development, Mr. Haggai Kadiri, his Director Junior Omondi and the Director of special economic zone, Mr. Enos Adala.
