Today Rotary Vocational Training Centre hosted the second joint graduation Ceremony, which brought together 2,458 graduands from the 26 Vocational Training Centers across all the Sub Counties within Kisumu.
The event brought on board partners such as the SHOFCO, Commundo, Pratham International, FEMNET Kenya, Transparency International Kenya, SOS and CIC under KBEST.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Mathew Ochieng Owili who was the Chief Guest gave a speech on behlf of the Governor that congratulated the 2024 graduands from the 28 Vocational Training Centres.
“We are confident in their competence, knowledge and skills to drive our county’s transformative journey as part of our commitment to promote tertiary and vocational education”. He said.
Speaking on the Jua Kali industry, the Deputy Governor stated that the Jua Kali technicians working in the rural parts of the County should explore the valuable opportunities presented by Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at the Vocational Training Centres within the County.

On his part, the CECM Education, Technical Training Innovation and Social Services, Mr John Obiero Awiti who was grateful to H.E the Governor for assenting to law of the VET Act and being on track to develop the two regulations to operationalize the Act.
“We believe that by investing in State-of-the-art facilities and resources, we can better prepare our trainees to meet the evolving demands of the modern workforce and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of our economy,” he reiterated.
In attendance were Education CEC John Awiti, his Lands & Physical Planning Counterpart Jerome Ochieng, County Assembly Education Committee Chair Hon Seth Okumu, and Majority Whip Hon Seth Kanga among other officials.
