The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) is currently in Kisumu for a verification exercise of public primary schools, to ensure the preservation of the assets of the primary schools and ECDE facilities previously under the management of the Municipal Council of Kisumu.
The exercise spearheaded by IGTRC alongside the County Committee members led by the Department of Education, Vocational Training and Social Services seeks to ensure that county and National governments share public primary schools and ECDE facilities. The exercise kicked off on the 7th with the exit meeting set for today the 9th of October 2024.

The IGTRC together with the county committee formed earlier this year convened meetings to consolidate the inventory of 131 facilities and their assets as well as consolidating emerging issues including encroachment and dispute.

The team also paid a courtesy call to the CEC Member for the Department of Education, Mr. John Awiti and held a brief of the findings of the exercise in an exit meeting held at the county headquarters.
The verification exercise included officers from the National Lands Commission, Ministry of Education officials, Assets management officers, IGRTC and the County government of Kisumu.
