125 newly recruited County staff underwent a comprehensive induction program, aiming to integrate the employees into the public service culture and values that are set to help them acclimate to their new environment and understand their roles and responsibilities.
The County Government welcomed 100 new ECDE Teachers and 25 Vocational Education Trainers, engaged under permanent and pensionable terms of employment. The newly recruited staff underwent an induction program tailored to enlighten the new staff on key government operations and the guiding procedures, laws, and ethics.

The new staff gained valuable insights into Kisumu County’s rich history, mission, and core values. They learned about a range of vocational training programs provided by the TVET institutions, Competence-based curricula, and policies relevant to Vocational Education as well as ECD policies. Both groups explored the vibrant staff life and the County’s commitment to fostering holistic well-being for all staff and learners in both VTC and ECD.
In recognition of the important role of both VTC trainers and ECD teachers, Deputy Governor Dr. Matthew Owili on behalf of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o shared the ambitious vision of becoming a top-tier County in Education matters, encompassing both its Early Childhood programs and vocational training institutions. He emphasized the importance of collaboration across the entire education fraternity, calling upon both new staff and trainers to contribute their talents and dedication to achieving this collective dream.

The CEC Member Mr. John Awati was greatful for the effort by the executive to offer opportunity for the ECD teachers and VTC trainers, noting that with the establishment of 28 VTCs and a total of 653 ECD centers in Kisumu, the newly recruited staff will go a long way in bolstering education and skills development while also setting the stage for long-term success.

This comprehensive induction session served as a springboard for new staff members and trainers as they integrated into the County Government community. Equipped with a deeper understanding of the county’s culture, shared vision, and the unique aspects of both ECDE and TVET operations, noting that they will be well-positioned to play a vital role in shaping Kisumu’s future success.

The program featured presentations from various stakeholders, partners including financial service providers, Child welfare service providers County officials as well as the Deputy Governor who led the day’s events.
