The County Department of health and sanitation is currently hosting a family health training set run through to Friday the 22nd at Kisumu Hotel.
The 5 days training is aimed to equip the practitioners with the required knowledge on developing trends on family healthcare including family health nutrition, public health, family clinical health, reproductive health, mental health and workforce responsibilities.
The training was graced by chief officer health Dr. Gregory Ganda, who encouraged the participants to take this kind of training seriously and apply the knowledge gained while discharging their duties to the general public. Dr. Ganda also assured the county support and commitment to ensure family healthcare program is realized.
On his part County director of public health Mr. Fredrick Oluoch affirmed the department financial support during the field work to the training staff.
The training involved 40 participants from both Kisumu East and Muhoroni Sub-Counties and several trainers from different disciplines. According to the County family health coordinator Mr. Jackton Okeyo, Kisumu County bosts of being a role model in the implementation of family health program with the pilot focus on Chemelil and Muhoroni.
In his closing remarks, the chief Officer reminded the health providers that family health promotion takes the lead in health care provision in Kisumu going by the Governors manifesto. As county health sector, great efforts is set to consider family health program with the focus is family centered health promotion as a perspectives for engaging families in achieving better health outcomes
